The endless journey to Vietnam

My journey started with a 9:00 PM departure from Dallas to LA on a Wednesday evening. The next leg was the fifteen hour flight to Hong Kong, which began with a glass of Taittinger Champagne and caviar service. I spent time lounging in my spacious suite in the air, including a meal of fabulous grilled steak paired with fine wines and also a couple of movies on the private screen.

My worry and anxiety about setting forth for south east Asia for 3 1/2 weeks with torn menisci and a “no load” knee brace are gratefully but a faint memory. My Pilates instructor in Dallas suggested I go on the trip as a retreat for rehabilitation of my knee.

We’d had some very busy weeks at The Annex leading up to my departure from Dallas on a recent Tuesday. While tending to finish details on a large construction project, I caught my foot as I stepped over a plastic construction fence and fell forward wrist and knee first onto steel plating.

I departed Koh Samui to the smaller quiet island Koh Phangan with its reputation for the “FULL MOON” party. I was at the north end of the island on a quiet secluded beach, staying at the Anantara Rasananda Hotel. Happily, they had upgraded me to a ocean suite with plunge pool and outdoor shower for no extra cost.
