On arrival I spent the first two days at the St. Regis Dubai recovering from the brutal flight. As the initial inspiration for this trip was to visit EXPO 2020 Dubai UAE, I spent three days and two nights at Rove Expo 2020 Hotel. This Expo features pavilions from 192 participating nations, each with unique architecture, culture, and ambiance. My brain was on sensory overload from all the ambiance, a mind blowing experience. This was the only hotel inside of the EXPO. Loud music until midnight every night and by 3 AM they would be rehearsing musical acts for the following day. My bed was literally shaking one night. Seeing the photos, a friend responded saying it looked like I was on Mars.

I extended my stay for an additional eight days to explore. You’ll see a few photos from outside my next hotel, the Address Beach Resort. Its Persian Gulf beach is a veritable circus of people, yachts, jet skis, flyboards, and strange customs… and that was before the camels showed up. In the midst of all this, I feel like I am on another planet. The weirdly shaped building behind me is the hotel.

You won’t find much CHEAP in Dubai but I did enjoy a “relatively” inexpensive dinner of yummy tacos and beer. As they say, contrast intensifies experience. During my stay, I swam in the highest outdoor infinity pool in the world at 77 floors, with Palm Jumeirah island in the background.
