Greetings everyone from my ELEVENTH trip to Vietnam. I decided to spice it up this time with an adventure to Chiang Mai. The first few days of this trip were rain, rain, and more RAIN!! After a grand dinner of spring rolls wrapped in rice paper, spicy fried tofu, morning glory in oyster sauce, and cold beer, I practically had to swim back to the hotel. Not that you could see the edge but fortunately I knew where the street stopped and the river started, otherwise someone could have stepped off into the abyss. Phew! Then came FIVE more days of RAIN. ☔️

This year I had the pleasure to stay at a new 5 star hotel, Bay Resort Hoi An, directly across the river from Old Town. As it turned out, it proved to be an even greater pleasure because I booked a rate of $107.00 per night including breakfast. As if I need another excuse to overeat! It ended up raining every day and night pretty much constantly during my stay, so I spent time shopping and designing new clothes. 🤔  After three sessions at two bespoke personal tailoring shops I had made a couple great selections and– what do you think?!- a possible fashion disaster. I thought it might be cool to design a sports jacket using the iconic GULF OIL logo colors. Using my iPhone we did some color matching, check out the photos. We nailed the blue, for sure, and (with big sheepish grin) I’m pointing out the orange. Apple Watch band color match, too! Sadly, no photos yet of the fancy new threads. This particular masterpiece is already in the bag and stored away for future travels. Stay tuned!

Thanks for coming along!
