In preparation for my seventh trip to Hoi An, both essential and special items were needed: some turkey jerky, a special bottle of Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon, a bottle of Macallan single malt whisky as a gift, and of course a box of face masks for the coronavirus.  (These masks were never used, more on that later.)

My Japan Airlines flight from DFW to Narita was comfortable and effortless. Once landed, we taxied to a gate less than 50 yards from the deliciously decadent Admirals Club for a nice two hour break, where I enjoyed a hot shower, some refreshments, and a walk around. The plane for my next departure was just outside my window in the Club.
